Warsaw, May 30, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Monday called for redefinition of the Middle East crisis in light of extremism which has engulfed the entire region.
Zarif made the remarks in a meeting with Polish Prime Minister ‘Beata Szydło’ in Warsaw.
In the meeting, Zarif said the two sides should focus their efforts to re-define the crisis.
Until the two sides have not made assessment about the Middle East situation and the current developments, making any decision will be futile, Zarif said.
For the first step, the issue of extremism in the region should be defined, he said.
Referring to the current crisis in the region mainly in Syria, he said, ‘We have interpreted the Syrian crisis in a way as if defeat for each side will bring victory for the other.’
No one will be winner in the Syrian conflict and in fact all the belligerent parties will be the loser but the degree of the defeat is somewhat different, he said.
Iranian foreign minister heading a politico-economic delegation is on a visit to Poland on the first leg of his European tour.
