The plan also includes measures such as stationing military units in every 30 kilometers along the pipeline, as well as hiring tribal groups for protection.
The United States has launched frequent drone attacks in Yemen. The attacks have left many innocent civilians dead over the past few years.
Washington claims it is targeting militants but witness reports and figures provided by local officials indicate that civilians are the main victims of the assaults.
Meanwhile, Yemen’s Oil Minister, Hisham Sharaf said the country will resume oil exports from its Marib province by next week. This comes as violence had halted shipments from the area for over a year.
Yemen’s oil and gas pipelines have been frequently the target of sabotage by militants, but attacks on energy infrastructure have intensified since anti-government protests last year that ended the 33-year rule of Ali Abdullah Saleh.
The country’s main Marib oil pipeline, which carries crude to the Ras Isa export terminal on the Red Sea coast, was the target of three consecutive attacks in October last year.
Militant attacks on the pipeline forced Yemen to close its Aden refinery, which cost the country up to 15 million dollars a day in export revenues.
