South West police say a 65 year old woman who was raped in her Yarloop house remains too distressed to return home.

Police are calling for information from the public to help find the man who sexually assaulted and threatened the woman early on Saturday morning.

Police say the woman was terrified and waited a number of hours before calling for help.

Detective Senior Sergeant Jon Munday says forensic evidence has been sent to Perth for testing and police are hoping for the results by the end of the week.
“Someone that breaks into an elderly lady’s house who’s living alone, I mean it’s an extremely callous and cowardly attack, and for someone to have that mindset to do that is extremely concerning to us and that’s why we really want to catch this person,” he said.
