World’s smallest man Chandra Bahadur Dangi in Sydney

Chandra Bahadur Dangi has been crowned the world’s shortest man by Guinness World Records, and is in Sydney as part of a promotional tour by Nova FM.

STANDING at just 54.6cm tall, Chandra Bahadur Dangi has just one wish – to be on top of the world.

His small stature earned him the Guinness World Record crown of shortest man alive earlier this year, and the 72-year-old Nepali said Mt Everest was now high up on his to-do list.

“I’d love to see it, I’ve never been there,” he said through a translator in Sydney yesterday.

Completely unknown three months ago, Dangi shot to superstar status overnight when he was discovered in February.

At full stretch, he stands about the same height as a car tyre.

Dangi said becoming officially recognised as the world’s shortest man had turned his life around.

“Before I had nothing to do, now life is more interesting,” he said.

Carried around by his nephew for most of the day in a baby capsule, Dangi spent yesterday admiring the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House before being introduced to his very first koala and possum.
