Woman’s body found in makeshift grave

A man has been charged with murder after a woman’s body was found buried in a makeshift grave at a home southwest of Sydney.

Detectives found the corpse, believed to be that of a 33-year-old woman reported missing by her parents last week, on Friday after visiting the house to arrest a woman over a break-in.

It is alleged firearms, jewellery and other items were stolen in the burglary at Lakesland last month.

Three men aged 31, 38 and 21 and a 16-year-old girl were arrested on Friday after the body was found.

The 31-year-old was charged with murdering the woman as well as crimes related to burglary. He is due to appear at Parramatta Bail Court, in Sydney’s west, on Saturday.

The 21-year-old man was charged with crimes related to burglary.

The 38-year-old man was released without charge and the girl was being questioned by detectives on Friday night.

A 22-year-old woman arrested on Thursday in connection with the burglary faced Campbelltown Local Court on Friday.

She was bailed to appear at the same court on July 23.
