A random act of kindness from a St. Clair County police officer in Belleville, Illinois has gone viral and when you read this, you’ll see why.
A woman named Gina Headen was pulled over for speeding. The police officer let her go with a warning. She broke down crying because her father had recently passed away. The officer returned to her vehicle to see if she was alright. Ms. Headen says the officer sent a very touching letter to her a week later.
Gina Headen with her father
Headen posted this message with pictures of the card on her Facebook page:
Last week I was pulled over for going 65 in a 55. The officer took my license and registration. While I sat and waited I was reminiscing about my dad like always lately. The officer returned to my car and said its your lucky day, we were born on the same day and year, slow down and have a good day. I smiled and said thank you.
He walked away and I broke down and started crying. Thinking he was back in his car. He surprised me and tapped on my window asking if I was ok. I told him I was sad, I just lost my dad. He said take a minute and breath. He talked to me a minute then helped me back into traffic. Today I received this beautiful card in the mail.
Thank you Deputy Dan Hill #227 of St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department
Inside the card Deputy wrote a very touching note:
Mrs. Headen,
My Condolence on the loss of your father. I’m sure he was a great man who loved his family. I pray that your tear of sadness becomes tears of joy in remembering his legacy.
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes and death shall be no more. Neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
Revelation 21:4

Wow. How great is that? Gina Headen seems to be a wonderful woman who is active in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. Looking through her Facebook page I see that she is a fantastic woman, wife, mother and cooks some delicious looking food! She obviously loves her father who looks to have been a great man. We ask our Lord to watch over her and her family.
Once again we see how wonderful many of our law enforcement officers are. This is a perfect example. Kudos to Deputy Hill!
God Bless.
