Woman knocked out and sexually assaulted

A GOOD Samaritan was knocked out and sexually assaulted by a man pretending to have car troubles, police say.

The 34-year-old woman pulled over on Kyle St in Rutherford, north west of Newcastle in the New South Wales Hunter region, at about 5pm yesterday to assist the driver of a vehicle who had parked on the side of the road and raised his car’s bonnet.

She was punched in the head and knocked out, and when she regained consciousness, found she was in a sales yard.

Realising she had been sexually assaulted, she was taken to John Hunter Hospital near Newcastle for treatment.

Her attacker is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his late 30s to early 40s, with short light brown hair.

The man was with a red Holden Commodore sedan and was wearing blue jeans, a black t-shirt, blue shoes with yellow laces and dark square sunglasses, police say.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
