Woman jumps from moving taxi in Sydney

A woman has been critically injured after jumping from a moving taxi in western Sydney.

The woman was sitting in the back seat of a cab travelling along the M4 at Holroyd at 8.20pm (AEDT) when she opened the door and jumped, police say.

She hit the road and suffered severe head injuries, police said.

The woman, aged in her 20s, has been taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical but stable condition.

Police interviewed several motorists who witnessed the incident, as well as the taxi driver, who has undergone mandatory testing.
