A woman has been killed when in the process of pulling her car into the emergency lane in Melbourne’s northwest.
It’s believed the woman had been pulling over into the emergency lane on the Calder Freeway, at Diggers Rest, to retrieve something from the back seat of her car just after midnight Sunday (AEDT).
Police say that as she was doing so, another car travelling in the same direction crashed into her car.
She died at the scene. She has not yet been identified.
The driver of the second car is helping police with their inquiries.
