Woman charged in $275,000 jewellery theft

A woman allegedly stole $275,000 worth of jewellery from a store she was working at in western Sydney.

Police said on Saturday they had charged the woman following the reported theft of 90 pieces of jewellery, including gold necklaces, bracelets, rings and pendants, from the Campbelltown store.

The 48-year-old woman sold the jewellery for cash after stealing them, police allege.

The woman was arrested at another jewellery store in Liverpool on Friday.

She was taken to Campbelltown Police Station and charged with larceny as a clerk or servant and granted conditional bail to appear in Campbelltown Local Court on March 21.

Police say investigations are continuing and they expect to lay further charges.
