What is really going on in Syria? – A simple question

on 3 Jan 2012

For the last 12 months the Middle East has seen the uprising of the people against their undemocratic leaders and regimes.

Syria has been on the backbench for some time, but has recently been getting a large amount of pressure from both Western countries and the Arab League.

But is there something else that’s going on here? Syria is a strategic country in politics of the entire region.

The Arab League as well as western countries say they are acting in the name of democracy, but why is all the focus on Syria? And why are they not acting in the name of democracy in Bahrain?
