Brigadier General Yadollah Javani, who is a senior military adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, said Sunday that the P5+1 representatives should make their utmost efforts to win Tehran’s confidence during Moscow talks as they have failed to gain the trust of Iranians and the Iranian negotiating team during previous rounds of negotiations.
He also voiced optimism about the forthcoming two-day talks between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security plus Germany in Moscow, saying Moscow negotiations are expected to stay on track and come to a successful conclusion given the agreements reached in the Istanbul and Baghdad meetings.
Brigadier General Javani also called on the Iranian negotiating team to insist on Tehran’s right to civilian nuclear energy during the Moscow talks, stressing that the P5+1 should recognize and respect the right by the end of the negotiations.
A round of talks between Iran and the P5+1 was held in Istanbul on April 14. Both sides hailed the discussions as constructive and agreed to hold another round of negotiations in Baghdad.
Iran and the six world powers wrapped up their meeting in Baghdad on May 24 after two days of negotiations.
