“If the Westerners correct their behavior and respect the Iranian nation, they will receive respect from Iranians in return,” said President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Monday.
“They should know that the Iranian nation will never retreat from its fundamental rights even one step,” he added.
Iran and the P5+1 — Britain, France, Russia, China, and the United States plus Germany — wrapped up the latest round of their negotiations on April 14 in the Turkish city of Istanbul. Both sides hailed the talks as constructive and agreed to hold the next round of talks in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad on May 23.
The Baghdad meeting will come as representatives of Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) resumed fresh talks in Vienna on Monday with the purpose of settling the Western standoff over Tehran’s nuclear energy program.
