‘West aims to block Iran nuclear growth’

Speaking to IRNA on Saturday, Mohammad Yaghi pointed to the future talks between Iran and the P5+1 in Moscow and said, “We hope the talks will be held in an atmosphere full of understanding and cooperation because the West is hindering Iran’s nuclear progress with the purpose of dominating the region’s resources and riches.”

“This is Iran’s right to use peaceful nuclear energy with the aim of meeting industrial, scientific and electricity needs,” he added.

The Hezbollah official noted that international circles have recognized this right for all countries “but the West, which pursues a hostile policy on Iran, is still making efforts to dominate the resources and natural assets of the Middle East region and Iran.”

Yaghi said Iran has been exposed to various economic, political and financial sanctions since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979. However, he added, the Islamic Republic has succeeded in becoming a major power in the region.

Iran has managed to vigorously defend its rights and turn threats into opportunities for progress and development, he further pointed out.

Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany (P5+1) wrapped up their latest meeting in Baghdad on Thursday evening after two earlier sessions of negotiations on Thursday and Wednesday.

Tehran and the P5+1 – Russia, China, Britain, France, the US and Germany – agreed to hold another round of talks in Moscow on June 18-19.
