Web Hosting Leader Predicts That the Rise of Gas Prices will Increase E-Commerce

Industry leader AIT predicts that gas prices will continue to rise this year which will cause home shopping to rise as well. In response AIT will increase their promotion of online business tools to stand up a digital storefront and capture profits for a global marketplace.

Fayetteville, NC (PRWEB) February 27, 2012

Recently the largely Republican plan for a gas pipeline from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico was blocked by the White House, if only for a short time. With this latest development in the on-going battle over fuel prices and natural resources, it is easy to predict that gas prices will only rise. Because of this more and more people are driving less and shopping from the comfort and security of their homes than ever before. With average prices at the pump above $3 a gallon, filling up is causing American consumers increasing pain in the pocketbook. Americans are not just dissatisfied with the cost of gasoline, a sizable number are downright angry about it. And they might get madder still if prices go over $4 per gallon as predicted.

So what effect will this have on the overall store and retail shopping? According to a report from the research firm Forrester, US retail e-commerce sales will reach will $279 Billion in 2015. One of the main reasons behind this is because “Shopping online helps cut gas costs that would be accrued shuttling to and from the mall. Of course, all of this doesn’t necessarily mean that these online shoppers will spend less. I wouldn’t be surprised if they ended up spending the same amount or more because of the convenience of shopping from home.” says AIT’s Chief Marketing Officer Richard Kirby.
