Sydney’s Wayside Chapel has been reopened after a $8.2 million redevelopment.
NSW Health Minister Jillian Skinner said the new building included two public showers, three public toilets, a large kitchen and a rooftop garden.
“For almost 50 years The Wayside Chapel has provided care and support for those living on and around the streets of Sydney’s iconic Kings Cross,” Ms Skinner said.
“The new building means The Wayside Chapel is better equipped to help people who face homelessness, mental health issues and addictions.”
Funding for the revamp was provided by state and federal governments and private and corporate donors.
The chapel, which first opened in 1964, gives people food, shelter and life skills.
