WA student charged over teacher assault

A 17-year-old student has been charged with assaulting a teacher at a school in Western Australia’s Pilbara region.

Police said the male teacher was attacked at a school in Roebourne on Thursday after the boy was asked to leave class for being disruptive.

The youth then allegedly threw a rubbish bin at the teacher and punched him in the head several times, knocking him to the ground.

Police said as the boy left the school he punched the windscreen of another teacher’s vehicle and smashed it.

He has been charged with assaulting a public officer and criminal damage and will appear in Roebourne court on February 20.
