Robin Hall |
(Scroll down for video) A woman, enjoyed a vacation with her family, when she was arrested by police for an outstanding warrant.
Her crime: shoplifting cigarettes 22-years-ago.
Robin Hall, a mother of two, enjoyed a Disney Dream Cruise, with her husband and two children. When they arrived back at shore the woman was pulled to the side and told she was under arrest for an old warrant.
When the woman asked what the warrant was for she was informed that back in 1991, she failed to pay an $85 fine.
The strangest part of the story is how the police found Hall. Authorities checked the cruise passengers list, to allegedly find terrorists. But instead they found a U.S. productive citizen, who had a 22-year-old warrant for shoplifting a pack of cigarettes from Walmart, when she was 18-years-old.
Police waited for her at the Port Canaveral, and arrested her as soon as she came off the boat with her family.
The woman was jailed in Brevard County, Florida. Her family wanted to post bail, but officials refused to accept bail, citing a jurisdiction issue. The woman was arrested in Brevard County, but the crime was committed in Orange County.
She has to be transferred to Orange County before being released. However, because she was
arrested on a holiday weekend, she might have to stay in jail until Thursday.
Interestingly enough,
when it came to arresting the mother of two, there was no jurisdiction issue.
Since the theft of the cigarettes in 1991, Hall, had gone to college, got a degree in architecture and she now helps design jet engines for Pratt & Whitney in Connecticut.
The lesson we can all learn from this unfortunate story is to make sure to pay all tickets and fines before going on a trip or the government will get you.
