Two thieves who bashed and robbed a Perth woman returned to apologise and hug her moments after their attack.
The young men, believed to be aged between 17 and 20, approached the 35-year-old woman from behind as she was walking home through the inner south-eastern suburb of Lathlain about 11.35pm last night and demanded cash, WA Today reports.
When the woman refused to give it to them, one of the men hit her on the head, sending her crashing to the ground.
The man continued to hit her before fleeing with her handbag.
But after the victim called out and asked for her bag back, they returned and threw some of her belongings on the ground.
One of the men helped the woman stand up and apologised to her for the attack, before both men hugged her and left.
The woman was treated for her injuries at Royal Perth Hospital.
Anyone with information on the attack is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
