Violence claims ten lives in Pakistan

Two soldiers were killed and three others injured when a remote-controlled bomb went off in the Srarogha area of southern Waziristan.

Clashes between security forces and pro-Taliban militants also left another two soldiers dead and four others wounded in southern Waziristan’s Prondh area.

However, Pakistani security forces managed to kill six militants in retaliation destroying three militant hideouts as well.

Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants and associated groups have carried out numerous attacks on security forces as well as civilians.

More than 35,000 Pakistanis have lost their lives in bombings and other militant attacks since 2001, when Pakistan entered an alliance with the US in the so-called war on terrorism, according to local media outlets.

Since late 2009, there has been a surge in militant attacks in Pakistan.
