Tehran, March 14, IRNA – Vice president and head of Iran Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (CHTHO) said on Monday during the last Iranian year five million foreign tourists visited Iran, spending 7.5 to eight billion dollars.
Masoud Soltanifar made the remarks in a ceremony on improved services in 29 Iranian airports.
He said that although Iran still ranks 47th among 50 countries with tourism attractions but in terms of earning foreign currency from tourism Iran stands at the 36th place.
‘Iran has currently only a 0.5% share of the world tourism income, but, we intend to gain a 2% share of that income by the year 2025,’ he said.
Soltanifar said that Iran intends to attract 20 million tourists in the year 2025.
