A Melbourne man who was dumped at a hospital after being shot in the leg is unlikely to survive, a court has heard.
Shawn Edward Walker, aged 27, suffered a single gunshot wound to the leg in the incident at Tullamarine on Tuesday.
Khais Nasery, 27, faced Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday charged with intentionally causing serious injury to Mr Walker.
Prosecutor Jelena Malobabic told the court Mr Walker’s condition was very serious.
“(Mr Walker’s injuries) are such that we have been advised that he may not survive,” Ms Malobabic said.
“As of last night there has been a worsening of his condition.”
When asked by Deputy Chief Magistrate Dan Muling if the victim was on life support, Ms Malobabic replied: “Yes”.
It is believed Mr Walker’s leg has been amputated.
Ms Malobabic said charges against Nasery might be upgraded at a later date.
She said she needed a longer than usual time to prepare the brief of evidence because investigations into the matter were ongoing.
A 25-year-old South Melbourne man has also been interviewed by police over the shooting, police say.
Nasery’s lawyer Peter Monagle said he had not been given a summary of the case and was not aware of what role it is alleged his client played.
Mr Monagle said the fact he had no summary was a major variation from standard procedure.
Nasery, of Preston, did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody to face the same court on July 30.
A bleeding Mr Walker was dumped at Sunshine Hospital by a man and a woman on Tuesday.
In a media statement police said a passing police patrol located a vehicle on Mayne Street at Sunshine West at about 1pm on Thursday.
The vehicle was allegedly used to drop the injured man off at hospital.
Mr Walker remains in a critical condition in Royal Melbourne Hospital, the statement said.
