Kianoush Ayyari is one of the most successful Iranian filmmakers who has directed many memorable films and TV series such as Across the Fire, To Be or Not to Be, Wake Up Arezu and The Days of Gharib.

The 69th Venice Film Festival will open with Mira Nair’s Reluctant Fundamentalist on August 29 and close with Jean-Pierre Ameris’s L’homme qui rit on September 8.

This year’s festival will screen films in Venezia 69, Out of Competition, Venice Classics, 80! and Orizzonti sections.

Organized by La Biennale di Venezia, this year’s festival aims to raise awareness and promote all the various aspects of international cinema in all its forms; as art, entertainment and as an industry, in a spirit of freedom and tolerance.

The festival will also include retrospectives and pay homage to major figures as a contribution towards raising awareness about the history of cinema.
