FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda Iran’s Permanent Representative to the Organization for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Kazem Gharibabadi said Washington and London violated international laws and conventions by destroying Iraq’s weapons without the supervision of international organizations.
He made the comments on Wednesday during the 69th session of the Executive Council of the OPCW held at The Hague, in the Netherlands.
Gharibabadi also said the chemical weapons are a real threat to global peace and security, urging the US to meet its obligations under the global chemical disarmament convention.
All countries have been given until April 29, 2012 to destroy their chemical weapons under the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC).
The Iranian official also asked OPCW member states to help create a global foundation to support the victims of chemical weapons, which was suggested by the Islamic Republic earlier.
Iran is one of the mains victims of chemical weapons. Nearly 100,000 Iranians were affected by nerve and mustard gases used during the imposed war by the Western-backed Iraqi regime in the 1980s.
About 5,000 to 6,000 Iranians are still receiving medical treatment for lingering and painful effects of exposure to Iraqi chemical weapons.
