US spent trillions on wars

According to a monitoring website, the US administration’s warmongering policies in Iraq and Afghanistan have cost the American taxpayers over 1.35 trillion dollars since the year 2001, when the US engaged in a devastating war with the impoverished nations.

However according to data provided by Reuters news agency the real amount of money spent by the US administration on its wars is well above what has been officially cited in thecostofwar.com website.

The real costs however include billions to be spent on long-term obligations to wounded veterans, at least one trillion dollars in interest payments and billions more in expenses that can not be counted, Reuters suggests.

The US’ wars are costly not only in financial terms but also in terms of human life losses.

The estimations do not even take into account the heavy costs of long lasting or permanent war-related mental disorders treatment.

Reuters continues to say that the US congress and Pentagon give Opaque and Sloppy accounting of the US’ war costs to delude the citizens.

Giving some clues about the destructive impacts of the wars on the US’ economy; the Chairman of the Federal Reserve, Ben Bernanke said, “However, given that growth is projected to be not much above the rate needed to absorb new entrants to the labor force, the reduction in the unemployment rate seems likely to be frustratingly slow” adding “the most effective way the congress could help to support the economy right now would be the work to address the nation’s fiscal challenges in a way that takes into account, both the need for long run sustainability and the fragility of the recovery.”

The heavy costs of wars are imposed on the American taxpayers in a situation when the average Americans are experiencing the hardest economic situation their country has even been involved in.
