US soldier dies in north Afghanistan

The US trooper died as a result of non-combat injuries in the country’s north on Saturday.

The US-led military alliance has not yet released details regarding the soldier’s identity or the exact location of the incident.

Despite the presence of tens of thousands of US-led forces in Afghanistan, insecurity continues to rise across the Asian country.

According to official figures released by the website icasualties.org, at least 262 foreign soldiers have lost their lives in war-battered Afghanistan so far this year.

The rising number of military casualties in Afghanistan has caused widespread anger in the US and other members of the Western military alliance, undermining public support for the US-led war.
