“One of the most salient features of our culture is that there is so much bullshit. Everyone knows this… But we tend to take the situation for granted… (the bullshitter) does not care whether the things he says describe reality correctly. He just picks them out, or makes them up… (Bullshitters) continue making assertions that purport to describe the way things are but that cannot be anything except bullshit.” ~ Princeton professor emeritus, Harry Frankfurt, 2005 Bestseller, On Bullshit
“[The] erroneous assumption is to the effect that the aim of public education is to fill the young of the species with knowledge and awaken their intelligence, and so make them fit to discharge the duties of citizenship in an enlightened and independent manner. Nothing could be further from the truth. The aim of public education is not to spread enlightenment at all; it is simply to reduce as many individuals as possible to the same safe level, to breed and train a standardised citizenry, to put down dissent and originality.” ~ H.L. Mencken, 1924
Think Nice’s brilliant 5-minute artistic frame for Professor Frankfurt (although there’s likely more to climate change than he mentions [and here, here]):
Stephen Colbert’s 2005 two minutes on truthiness as bullshit’s brother (embedding forbidden by Comedy Central).
This 11-part series addresses an overarching fact about public education: its design of intentional curricular lies of omission and commission to keep our children and the general public powerless, relatively stupid, and controlled work animals.
Importantly, I do not blame education professionals working in good-faith effort to produce high-quality learning from our children; public education exists in a matrix of control for ongoing empires that I’ll explain in detail within the series’ sections. That said, anyone truly educated in one’s field gradually discovers that public education is a ridiculous substitute for what’s most important to teach and learn. This is Emperor’s New Clothes obvious when pointed to, with this paper’s content including factual assertions that no counterarguments exist outside of shallow and misleading bullshit.
The 11 sections (links to be added as the series progress):
US public education: Bullshit to train stupefied work animals:
- Fine and Performing Arts limited almost exclusively for ‘pay to play;’ quietly crushing creative self-expression (9 of 12)
- Science captured by the US rogue state; demoted to bullshitting about research, and silenced in real solutions for a brighter future (10 of 12)
- Most ‘food’ is crap, campuses decrepit, students appropriately uninspired by bullshit (11 of 12)
- Solutions: education for truth, technology, and love to embrace reality and unleash human freedom (12 of 12)

Physical Education fails to declare US national emergency of unfit, unhappy humans in body and mind (8 of 12)
I am not a PE teacher, and greatly appreciate all the dedicated professionals in that field I’ve encountered in my 32 years’ work in education. Almost all of these professionals live what they teach, with energetic vitality our children recognize and admire.
That said, physical education is no match for the bullshit that is their opponent. Let’s consider just three points:
- ~80% of American adults are so physically uneducated that they fail to meet minimum levels of physical fitness.
- American adults are pressed to carve-out time to exercise/play in their work animal status, and without adequate facilities for exercise/play.
- American adults would never allow a favorite sport destroyed by obviously unfair “officials,” yet allow the US be destroyed by lie-started unlawful wars. This is an obvious failure to communicate “fair rules for a fair game.”
Let’s also ponder three questions:
- How can we defend public education for physical fitness as successful when only 20% of American adults can live what they’re taught?
- How is American life other than for work animals when adults are so pressured with work that most experience little or no time for physical fitness?
- How can we say Americans are not stupefied when the single most important rule learned from two world wars is not understood and protected, especially with literal millions of lives and trillions of dollars of importance?
Example 1:
Land of the enslaved, home of the unfit
Non-bullshit education produces adults living what they know. Bullshit public education produces adults who know better, but fail to produce the result of physical fitness. This is connected to physical vitality and overall well-being.
The CDC reports that 80% of US adults do not exercise enough for aerobic and strength fitness, and almost 30% get no exercise. About half get sufficient aerobic exercise.
This matches my casual observations of American adults; how about you?
Combined with what we covered in previous sections to demonstrate a debt-slave society serving an unlawful rogue state US Empire, it’s no wonder four out of every five adults fail to find inspiration to workout given pressures to even survive. Among the economic data I shared related to factors hindering physical fitness education:
- US poverty of 20% among children, 40% for living at least a year in poverty,
- 72% of California students in schools with over half the children classified as “socio-economically disadvantaged,”
- US college Class of 2015 students average $35,000 in debt, with the total for 2015 graduates nearly $70 billion: more than ten times the amount from just 20 years ago. The average time to pay this debt is now 15 years (think paying until age 40).
- half of US 25-year-olds live with their parents, more than twice the number from 15 years ago.
- Over one million US college students are “Sugar babies”: selling sex as part-time employment. The UK has the same condition (here, here).
- 31% of US adjunct professors live in poverty.
This data connects to our second example:
Example 2:
No time and no place to play
American adults are working more and more hours (here, here, here, among dozens), which means fewer hours available for exercise and play.
In addition, consider public facilities where play/exercise is available. In the SoCal and NoCal areas I’ve lived and worked, more affluent communities fund athletic facilities and other essential school functions through education funds in the annual low millions of dollars. This translates into places the community can easily access to play basketball, soccer, tennis, run, etc. I live in such a community and take advantage of my limited time to run around a beautiful soccer field once a week, and play tennis on newly-surfaced courts twice a week.
I volunteer to teach in low-income neighborhoods where the picture is very different. At our high school, there are abundant outdoor basketball courts, but with rusty baskets of different heights and bent at different angles, on courts with asphalt cracks everywhere and up to several inches wide, and zero baskets with a net. One could play soccer on our field, which suffers from dangerously uneven ground that my supervising duties have me conclude put the school district at risk for lawsuits over predictable injuries. The broken wooden stadium seating is a similar lawsuit risk. Connected to upkeep, at one supervision I had to report a deer carcass on the far end of the PE area that appeared to have been there for weeks. We have four tennis courts (insufficient to hold home matches for our teams) with weeds growing annually out of the cracks; our coach estimates the courts haven’t been resurfaced in 40 years. The nets are at different heights due to broken equipment, with the courts placed too close together for serious tennis without constant interruptions of balls coming onto the court. This school does not have an education fund.
Public physical education is bullshit to teach fitness to children, and then throw them into a world of “educated” adults without time and/or facilities to continue that education easily.
The most telling bullshit of this education are the lies of commission and omission to churn out children to become work animals without comprehensive embrace of the dire and hapless futures those children face as unfit adults.
This is an undeclared emergency to the objective observer, and bullshit to call it “physical education” given its results.
Example 3:
We’d never allow a favorite sport destroyed by psychopathic “officials;” why allow our nation to be destroyed by lie-started unlawful wars?
From a 2014 article of Americans trained in sports’ rules yet unable to translate that knowledge for “fair games” where it counts most in Life:
If a favorite sport was rigged so “officials,” game announcer, and reporting media allowed massive destruction of the rules that effectively devolved the game into a tragic-comic joke, you would be livid, speak-up, and take some kind of action.
You can’t imagine this would ever occur because so many Americans are well-educated in “sports law,” are highly passionate in their love of their games, and quick to self-express when the sport suffers from an obviously bad/missed call by officials.
For examples, Americans would speak, act, and end the following egregious sports violations of law if they occurred:
- Baseball umpires and media allow the New York Yankees’ pitchers to throw pitches so far out of the strike zone that their catchers have to stand-up and move away from the plate to catch them, AND call those pitches strikes. Instant replay and multiple-camera technology confirm these pitches are out of the strike zone by as much as ten feet, yet umpires and media ongoingly claim these pitches are lawful strikes and umpires’ calls are final. Corporate media focus on Yankee history of winning, how the players are really good guys, and charities the players and their wives support, but never on the hard evidence of where these pitches are actually located.
- Football officials and media allow the San Francisco 49ers defense to tackle the opposing offense center before the snap, steal the ball, and call this a recovered fumble for the 49ers. This happens whenever the 49ers want to do it (average five times per game), is lauded as their new “Surge defense,” but always ruled as an “offside” violation by 49er opponents when they try it. Corporate media discuss the 49ers new stadium, West Coast innovations applied to football, and again charities the players and wives support, but never on factual analysis of the play in question.
- Tennis officials and media allow John McEnroe’s 2016 “comeback” (yes, he still plays excellent tennis at age 57) by having balls he hits outside his opponent’s court by as much as ten feet to be called “in.” The distances the ball lands away from the lines are clearly seen by spectators, documented on replays, and shown on the multiple-camera computer programs as so far out to be impossible the calls were innocent mistakes in judgment. Opponents’ balls hit into McEnroe’s court are called “out” when McEnroe falls behind in a game, even if the documented evidence show the ball “in” by several feet. Corporate media focus on McEnroe’s history of winning, his personality, past relationships, musical interests, and being a unique athlete to enjoy, but never the factual analysis of ball location in the matches that allow McEnroe to “win.”
Again, this is impossible to imagine because there is no history of such ridiculous lies close to these three fictional sports examples, and Americans are so powerful in their knowledge of the sports they wouldn’t allow it. Their voices at these sports events would clearly communicate they know damn well those games are rigged, “officials” are intentionally lying, and corporate media is also complicit in the rigged outcomes.
The liars would be clearly seen for what they are, shamed into surrender so Americans could reclaim their beloved sport, and Americans would be rightly proud of their required activism.
This said, Americans do allow their nation to be destroyed by rigged and unlawful Wars of Aggression under our flag and honor, with our tax dollars, and war-murdering millions of people.
America has become a tragic-comic joke (also considered the most dangerous nation to world peace) because our wars are as ridiculous as the above sports examples. Here’s the six-sentence summary; full documentation here and here:
Current US wars, including any attack on Syria, Ukraine, and/or Iran, are Orwellian unlawful because US armed attacks, invasions, and occupations of foreign lands are unlawful Wars of Aggression. Two US treaties, the Kellogg-Briand Pact and UN Charter, make armed attacks on another nation unlawful unless in response to armed attack by that nation’s government. Under Article Six of the US Constitution, a treaty is our “supreme Law of the Land;” meaning that no order can compromise a US active treaty.
Current US wars and rhetoric for more wars continue a long history of lie-began US Wars of Aggression since the US invaded Mexico; despite Abraham Lincoln’s powerfully accurate rhetoric of President Polk’s lies to steal half of Mexico at the expense of US military and Mexican civilian lives. The most decorated US Marine general in his day also warned all Americans of this fact of lie-started wars for 1% plunder.
Such lie-began and unlawful US wars have killed ~30 million since WW2, arguably more than Hitler’s Nazis.
Want something better, like the justice of a fair game on a level playing field?
Tired of having your whole nation being a deadly joke?
Then you’d better speak-up and take action. How about this for your talking points:
- Expose 1% oligarchs in the US and elsewhere as OBVIOUS criminals centering in war, money, and media (also in ~100 other crucial areas).
- Cause their surrender through arrests or Truth & Reconciliation.
- Initiate true freedom for all Earth’s inhabitants to explore ready breakthroughs in economics (links here) and technology, and discover what it is to be human without psychopathic criminals who joke about killing millions, harming billions, and looting trillions.
