At least 13 anti-corporatism protesters were arrested Wednesday in New Haven’s Green Park area after police forces tried dismantling their encampment following a federal appeals order, AP reported.
Police announced the protesters were arrested on charges of disorderly conduct.
The protesters have vowed to continue their protest rallies and establish yet another Occupy encampment.
The 99-percenters have camped in parts of the city’s Green area since last October.
The development comes as New York police officers arrested several protesters on Tuesday during a demonstration in front of the Stock Exchange.
The protesters repeated the slogan, “We are the 99 percent” to distinguish themselves from the one percent of Americans that are in possession of the nation’s greatest wealth.
The US witnessed the emergence of the popular movement after a group of people on September 17, 2011 rallied in New York’s financial district under the motto of ‘Occupy Wall Street,’ protesting corporatism, corruption, poverty as well as social inequality in the country.
