“The Zionists are behind sanctions [imposed] against Iran, and the US and major powers work as Zionists’ agents,” Rahimi said on Saturday.
He added that imposing such severe sanctions against a country is unprecedented, adding that the severity of these measures proves Iran’s greatness, IRNA reported.
“They have even imposed sanctions against fuel for passenger planes,” the Iranian vice president added.
Referring to EU sanctions against the Iranian Central Bank, Rahimi stated the central banks have immunity throughout the world but Iran’s enemies have imposed sanctions against its central bank.
On January 23, the European Union foreign ministers approved new sanctions against Tehran to prevent member states from buying Iranian crude or doing business with its central bank and to freeze the Iranian assets across the union. The sanctions will enter into force as of July 1.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said on June 26 that EU sanctions on Iran’s oil exports will damage talks between the Islamic Republic and the P5+1 group – Britain, China, France, Russia, and the United States plus Germany.
Iran and the P5+1 held the latest round of their multifaceted talks in the Russian capital, Moscow, on June 18 and 19. They agreed to a new round of expert-level negotiations in the Turkish city of Istanbul on July 3.
