US-led troops injured in Afghan attack

Local officials say at least two US-led troops were seriously wounded in Ghor’s ChaghCharan district.

The attacker is reportedly in the custody of foreign forces.

Last month, at least three US-led soldiers were killed in green-on-blue attacks.

Anti-US sentiments among Afghan security forces have increased in Afghanistan. The attacks against foreign forces have increased dramatically in the past two years, accounting for 15 percent of the deaths of US-led forces in 2012. Since 2008, more than 130 US-led soldiers have been killed in such attacks.

The United States invaded Afghanistan in 2001 under the pretext of combating terrorism. The invasion removed the Taliban from power, but insecurity continues to rise across the country, despite the presence of thousands of US-led troopers there.

The US-led war, which has caused record-high civilian and military casualties, has become the longest military conflict in American history.
