US-led trooper dies in Afghanistan blast

The NATO media office reported the fatality on Friday without disclosing the trooper’s nationality.

According to independent website, iCasualties.org, at least 51 foreign forces have lost their lives in Afghanistan so far in 2012. Thirty-seven of the fatalities were US troops.

The security situation remains fragile in the war-torn country, despite the presence there of thousands of foreign forces.

The increasing number of troop casualties in Afghanistan has caused widespread anger in the United States and other NATO member states, undermining public support for the US-led war.
