US, Israel power declining: Iran MP

“The decline in the power curve of the Zionist regime and the US government, as the main supporter of this racist and anti-human regime, is completely obvious,” the chairman of Iran’s Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee said on Saturday.

Boroujerdi said the US and the Israeli regime tried but failed to dissuade UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon from attending the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit in Tehran.

Over 100 countries sent representatives to the 16th NAM Summit that was held in the Iranian capital on August 26-31.

Iran assumed the rotating presidency of the NAM for a three-year term on August 30, after the meeting of heads of state and government opened with an inaugural speech by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

When asked about the signs of Israel and United States’ decline, Boroujerdi pointed to their inability in dealing with regional crises including those in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as Syria.

He added that the fall of former Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak as the most important ally of Tel Aviv in the region is another indication of the Israeli regime’s impending doom.

“There is no doubt that future belongs to Palestinians,” the Iranian lawmaker said.
