Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is due to meet US President Barack Obama in Washington on March 5, supposedly to discuss Iran’s nuclear energy program.
“They want to provide a way forward for attacking Iran and claim that the Iranian nation does not have the right to have a nuclear [energy] program as it is perfectly clear that the nuclear [energy] program in Iran is for the use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes,” Ralph Schoenman said.
“I think what the two of them, both the United States and its instrument, the Zionist state will discuss is how they can accomplish together the destabilization of Iran and dismantling of its national sovereignty and of its national integrity. That is the agenda,” he added.
Schoenman argued that Washington has “an ideological rationale for predations abroad,” as it was the case in the US-led wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and now the American officials seek to explore “an opportunity to intensify their warmongering and their threats to the sovereignty of Iran.”
The political analyst called on all human rights and democracy advocates to oppose the “imperial intervention” and hawkish policies sponsored by both the US and the Israeli regime.
The United States, Israel and some of their allies accuse Tehran of pursuing military objectives in its nuclear energy program, using this pretext to impose sanctions against Iran and threaten the country with military attack.
Iran has denied the allegations and promised a crushing response to any military strike against the country, warning that any such measure could result in a war that would spread beyond the region.
