US immigration agent shot dead in CA

The incident took place Thursday evening, at the Glenn M. Anderson Federal Building in Long Beach, over a dispute between two Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

“This situation began with what we can characterize as an incident of workplace violence,” assistant director of the FBI’s Los Angeles office, Steven Martinez said.

According to Martinez, a third colleague intervened by shooting at the agent who initially fired his gun.

The FBI says it believes the shooting was an isolated incident and the shooter was acting alone.

The agents involved in the incident were reportedly with the ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations unit.

Police are currently investigating the situation, and have not yet released the names of the agents involved.
