US festival to screen Iranian films

Rokhsareh Ghaemmaghami’s Going Up the Stairs and Narges Abyar’s short film Lion Wearers will take part in the competition section of the festival.

Ghaemmaghami’s feature-length documentary recounts the story of an Iranian grandmother who becomes an artist and gets her first solo show in Paris.

Dan Lindsay and TJ Martin’s Undefeated, Bart Layton’s Imposter, Shirley Clarke’s Connection, Lee Hirsch’s Bully and Victor Kossakovsky’s Vivan Las Antipodas are among the other productions presented at the event.

The True/False Film Festival highlights innovative works with a cinematic scope that take on contemporary currents and provoke dialogue about its subject and the documentary form itself.

The event, founded in 2004, grants the annual True Vision Award to the filmmaker whose work shows a dedication to the creative advancement of the art of nonfiction filmmaking.

The 9th True/False Film Festival will kick off on March 1 in Missouri, United States and will run until March 4, 2012.
