Untreatable “Super Gonorrhea” May Soon Reach America

There is a known form of gonorrhea that is entirely resistant to antibiotics and has been found in various parts all of the world, such as the UK. Dame Sally Davies, chief medical officer, warned the country of the rise of “super gonorrhea” in a letter that she had sent to physicians as well as pharmacies.

This highly adaptable disease has been known to be around for more than 2,000 years which at one point had responded to a menagerie of antibiotics. However, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, they recommend a dual treatment of two antibiotics which include ceftriaxone and azithromycin to be the only viable cure to this disease.

If this disease is left untreated or remains absent to treatment options, super gonorrhea contains a bacteria infestation reproductive mucous membranes which allows for it to be a serious and even life-threatening disease. All of which include inflammation, infertility, pain, and deadly blood condition.

England reports of having cases of super gonorrhea but hardly any treatment failures have been reported at all in the U.S. Essentially, treatment for normal gonorrhea with only just the one type of medication of cefixime can actually result in the antibiotic-resistant strains of the disease. Which then prompted the letter from Davies.

As we continue this battle against this insane mutation of gonorrhea, the dual treatment method has been a proven cure against this terrible disease, or at least for the time being. New remedies are being prepared, however, bringing drugs to the market is a very long drawn-out yearly process.
