Addressing an audience of small businesses in London on Thursday, Miliband will blast Cameron for taking the side of the UK’s Big Six energy companies instead of customers.
He is also expected to criticize the British premier for failing to address the problem of rising household costs.
“In weakness and panic, he [Cameron] made up a policy on energy which means business as usual for the energy companies and which is already falling apart,” Miliband will say.
This comes after Cameron announced a review of green energy taxes in an attempt to cut gas and electricity bills. But the Liberal Democrats accused him of making a “panicky U-turn”.
During Prime Minister’s Questions in the House of Commons on Wednesday, Miliband also called on the Tory-led government to implement the proposed price freeze on energy bills for the national interest.
Earlier this month, energy giant SSE announced that it would be hiking electricity and gas prices by 8.2 percent next month.
British Gas also followed SSE’s price rise with the announcement of a 9.2 percent increase in its dual-fuel bill price from November 23.
Npower became the third British energy giant to announce costumer bill increase when it said gas and electricity prices will rise by 11.1 and 9.3 percent respectively from December 1.
However, according to an analysis by Britain’s largest unions body the Trades Union Congress (TUC), energy costs have increased by 152 percent between September 2003 and 2013 in the UK, four times the rate of inflation which stands at 38 percent.
