UK MPs worried over Olympics security

With only 10 days to go until the Olympic Games begin in London, British MPs have expressed their concerns over the Olympics security accusing G4S of “making it up as you go along”.

British lawmakers’ accusation comes after the private security contractor known as G4S failed to provide the expected number of guards being 10,400 for the event.

Meanwhile, many athletes and team officials are arriving in the UK capital this week, which is being followed by large crowds of tourists and visitors.

The G4S’s failure to recruit and train security staff forced the British government to deploy an additional 3,500 troops to make up for the shortfall causing extra costs.

The worldwide media reported this incident as it has turned out to be a highly embarrassing mistake for the G4S Company; leading its share price to suddenly fall.

Moreover, critics show no sign of positivity as the opposition Labour Party described London’s security as insufficient saying visitors will certainly feel uncomfortable with the exaggerated presence of military activity over London.

London’s Metropolitan Police also faces a volatile atmosphere as the British government’s spending cuts has caused a current lack of police officials, creating more tension in a crowded capital with the possibility of a repeat of last summer’s unprecedented unrest.
