UK: DNA of thousands of innocent people still being collected by police
Telegraph – More than 150,000 innocent people have had their DNA added to a national database by police in recent years despite the Coalition’s pledge to end the practice, new figures suggest. Privacy campaigners say the system remains “illiberal and uncertain” and accuse ministers of failing to ensure that the genetic fingerprints of those cleared of suspicion are removed from files.
