UK at risk of losing investment crown

Britain had won 679 projects in 2011, according to the European attractiveness survey, but the UK then suffered a 7 percent fall in projects along with financial services.

This time, Germany won a larger share of manufacturing projects and then overtook the UK in winning investment from Japan.

On other measures, it was confirmed that the UK has already fallen behind. The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development had seen Britain drop four places in 2010 for the value of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows, falling behind Germany and Belgium.

In the last decade, the United Kingdom has been losing prestige in many areas such as job opportunities, foreign investment, government policies and slow growth in its economy.

Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, stressed last week that the state of the British economy is being affected by the eurozone crisis. He then raised questions to whether Greece should be booted out of the euro zone.
