UFO filmed over Lebanon, Missouri, May 26, 2012

ufo missouriThis UFO was filmed by witness Jim Barnhill in Lebanon, Missouri, on May 26, 2012 at 4:49am, using 3 pvs-7 night vision goggles with a 3x zoom recording onto a Sony Cybershot camera through the second eyepiece. The craft appeared in the sky over his house approximately 3-4 miles in the air at 146 deg SE, traveling NW at 320 deg unknown rate of speed. He immediately discounted this as a aircraft, because of the strobe lights. However, once it got closer, he realized, that it had 4 very bright lights and 3 of the strobes were flashing in a pattern. He have never seen an aircraft lights look like this so he stayed with the object. Jim explains, that typically aircraft lights flash/strobe on then turn off and back on, then off again doing this in a pattern. Again these lights never go out but get brighter.

Around 1:53 in the video above, the witness turned to get a better view of the craft. The craft did not turn, he did.

Witness account continued…

Appears to be some sort of aircraft (not sure if man made or not) that may be mimicking an airplane since it has strobe lights. Normal behavior would be to ignore a flashing light in the sky as a plane but if you saw a moving object with no flashing lights then that would certainly draw attention. You can clearly see 4 very bright lights 3 of them pulsing. Once you blow this video up you can see that the object is connected by some sort of dense frame structure connecting to the 4 light corners. It also appears to connect through the middle of the craft from the front light to the back light.

After adjusting the contrast etc I was able to determine from the video that the tail light flashes, then the left light flashes, followed by the front forward light. It does not appear that the right light flashes at all for some reason. Once it passed over me I turned towards the right with the goggles looking straight up. Once I did that the goggles became saturated with the bright lights and washed out the object prevented me from getting a sharp image and focus. I honestly cannot remember hearing any noise from the object but I do know that I was standing about 20 feet from the ac condensing unit and that may have come on a few times… The craft continued Northwest towards Eldridge and then I lost it behind the trees.

End of witness account…

My analysis of the UFO video

I agree with Jim Barnhill, that what he saw in the skies over Lebanon, Missouri, on May 26, 2012 at 4:49 am, seems very strange at first glance. What amazes me, is that there are 3 different flashing lights that the witness perceived as white flashing lights. Two of the lights on the tail rudder and the left wing, seems to be normal postion lights (better known as navigation lights), but the third blinking light, which should have been placed on the left wing tip, is not visible? Instead, there is a visible blinking light in front of this vessel, which can not be a position light.

Position lights on a plane usually consists of 3 lights, a green light unit that is always mounted at the extreme tip of the right wing, a red unit that is mounted in a similar position on the left wing, and a white unit that is usually located on the vertical stabilizer, the tail, in a position where it is clearly visible through a wide angle from the rear of the aircraft. My theory about the lack of flashing lights on the left wing tip is, that it is not visible for the simple reason, that it is pointing away from the observer. This is to help other pilots in the airspace in the vicinity, to determine the aircraft’s direction and thereby avoid a collision.

The four constant lights that forms a square, and which is extremely powerful because they are seen with night vision googles, is perhaps not so mysterious after all, as airliners are using their landing lights on every climb and descent, which includes take off and landing.

I admit, that the first time I saw Jim Barnhill’s video, I thought also it seemed mysterious with this pattern of light, but after a little research on the Internet (see links below), I became more and more convinced, that what we see here, is an airliner or military aircraft, with both position lights and landing lights turned on, as well as other lights. In addition to position lights and landing lights, other flashing lights are switched on a plane, when it is at the entrance of the runway and ready for take off. There is also the beacon light, that comes on, once all the doors are closed and locked, and when the airplane is ready for take off. The beacon light goes off once the airplane arrives at the gate, with the park brake on. These other lights might explain the flashing light at the front of the vessel.

The strange cross-structure

ufo missouri 2ufo missouri 3The strange cross-structure you can see in the top picture confuse me, because it does not look like an ordinary airplane shape or structure, and I can´t explain why it looks like this. But after searching through the video, I found a sequence, where the airplane shape and structure for some reason seemed normal, see the result below: Based on the video and a short research on the internet, I conclude that this was an aircraft, with position lights, landing lights and other flashing lights switched on…

Follow-up June 2, 2012

I have an ongoing email conversation with Jim Barnhill, and he has some good questions to my analysis here and I will try to answer as good I can the next week or two. I made a conclusion before, that it was an airplane, with position lights (including a blind angle for the left wing position light), landing lights and other flashing lights switched on, well, I could be wrong and Jim wants to dig deeper.

Jim´s additional questions:

  • Your theory about the lack of flashing lights on the left wing tip is, that it is not visible for the simple reason that it is pointing away from the observer. Is flawed per say…

Meaning – That if the light was on and pointed in a diff direction I would have still been able to see some reflection of said light. Remember I am using NVG’s and all light is amplified thousands of times.. I can see a cigarette a mile away in the woods with the goggle. Maybe a better observation would be that the left wing light was not working. IDK…
  • There are no airports nearby that this craft could have been landing at therefore really no reason to have on the extra landing lights
  • How do you explain the cross sectional pieces connecting to the four corners (lights)? If this is not typical of a plane then what the heck could it be? You can see these in your own short video clip…
  • How do you explain the connecting frame from the right wing to the tail section?
  • I do not see any wings on this object that are typical of airplanes. Do you see anything that could support a plane.
  • How do you explain the overall shape of the craft?
  • How do you explain the odd jet-out shape on the nose section?
  • Have you seen the enhanced version yet of my video? You can certainly see more detail
  • Have you seen a very similar video (2 objects) with 4 lights. No flashing lights, similar shape, pattern of lights etc.
  • In your own screen shots you can see faint connecting structures from each corner.
