Two men are in hospital after a large gas explosion in the Illawarra, south of Sydney.
Emergency services responded to reports of an explosion in a granny flat at the front of a house at Primbee at 4.30pm (AEST) on Sunday.
Firefighters extinguished the flames and rendered the scene safe.
However, a 28-year-old man suffered severe burns to his upper body and was taken to Wollongong Hospital.
He remains in a stable condition.
A 33-year-old man was found lying injured beneath the rubble.
He was airlifted to Sydney’s St George Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition as he undergoes treatment for head and spinal injuries and severe burns.
Four gas bottles were found on the property, however the exact cause of the blast has not yet been determined, police say.
