Two 32-year-old men have been charged over a savage assault of three men in Kings Cross.
Police say the three men, aged in their 20s, suffered a range of injuries during the fracas about 3.50am (AEST) last Saturday on Ward Street, including a broken nose, broken jaw and severe facial lacerations.
The 32-year-old men were arrested while trying to hop in a taxi on Roslyn Street.
Both men were charged with assault, reckless wounding in company and affray just after 12.10pm (AEST) on Friday.
Bail was refused and the men will appear before Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.
Earlier this month, NSW Hospitality Minister George Souris announced an audit of Kings Cross in response to the case of 18-year-old Thomas Kelly who died in hospital after he was king-hit while walking through the notorious strip.
The initial stage has finished but Mr Souris said he could not indicate how long the next phase would take to complete.
“The audit has concluded in terms of the inspection of registers and gathering of incident registers and the performance of responsible service of alcohol,” he told reporters in Sydney earlier in the week.
“The second phase of the audit is to compare that factual information with police records and with CCTV footage.
“I don’t know how long that will take but it’s not going to take forever.”
Mr Souris warned licensees’ failure to report incidents identified during the audit would be considered by the Office of Liquor and Gaming.
If significant breaches were found, regulations on trading hours could be imposed, he said.
