Two people have been killed and another three injured in a head-on collision on the Bruce Highway in central Queensland.
The Mackay-based RACQ Rescue helicopter is at the scene of the accident at Pindi Pindi, north of Mackay, about 20km south of Bloomsbury.
The smash occurred shortly before 7am, police said.
One of the injured is in a critical condition and will be airlifted to Townsville.
A section of the Bruce Highway remains closed and officers are attempting to set up a diversion around the scene.
