Two in hospital after major Sydney crash

A woman and a child are in a stable condition in hospital after a major accident in western Sydney.

A mini-van and several cars collided on the M7 near Kings Park about 3.30pm (AEST) on Friday shortly before the city’s peak hour traffic build-up.

Two people were thrown from their vehicles and a third was trapped in their car and needed to be rescued by emergency services.

A 13-year-old girl is in a stable condition at Westmead Children’s Hospital while a woman is in a critical but stable at Westmead Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said.

It is understood the pair are not related.

Up to eight other people were taken to Blacktown Hospital on Friday but have now been discharged, the spokeswoman said.
