The first Palestinian victim, identified as 20-year-old Ahmed Abu Nasser, was shot dead by Israeli troops near the security fence on Friday.
The Israeli Army claimed that Nasser cut through the border fence and opened fire on Israeli troops, who then shot back.
One Israeli soldier was also killed in the exchange of fire near Kissufim crossing.
Following the incident, Israeli aircraft and tanks fired shots into Gaza and according to Palestinian sources, the shelling, east of Khan Yunis, resulted in the burning of a three-hectare wheat field.
Witnesses said that after the exchange of fire, Israeli soldiers backed by tanks entered Khan Yunis and captured one person.
Hours later, Israeli military carried out an airstrike in the region, killing another Palestinian man and injuring three others, some of them reported to be in critical conditions.
Israeli warplanes and ground forces have frequently attacked Gaza since the end of the 22-day war on the territory in 2009. Most victims of the attacks are civilians including women and children.
In addition to attacks on the Gaza Strip, Israel denies about 1.7 million people in the besieged territory their basic rights, including the freedom of movement and the right to decent living, work, health and education.
