At least 10 people have been killed and more than 30 others injured as two explosions hit Makhachkala, the capital city of Dagestan in southern Russia, security services report.
The first bomb was detonated by a suicide bomber not far from a police checkpoint. The second explosion hit when rescuers came to the scene.
The blast caused a fire but it was soon extinguished.
About 30 people were hospitalized, many of them in a serious condition.
