SPECTACULAR pictures of tornadoes and water spouts have emerged as storms close in on WA’s South-West today.
PerthWeatherLive.com, a website that collates contributed images and videos of weather events around WA, has posted pictures of tornadoes near Yallingup, about 266km south of Perth.
Isolated thunderstorms were forecast along the southwest capes yesterday morning.

The storms brought heavy falls to some parts of the South West and further inland. A thunderstorm yesterday afternoon dumped 65mm on Munglinup, 615km south-east of Perth.
In the South West, Worsley Downs had 59mm, Bunbury 50mm, Busselton 49mm, Collie 42mm and Witchcliffe 47mm. Most centres received between 20mm and 50mm.
In the city, Perth recorded 9mm, Rottnest had 18mm, Jandakot 8mm, Mandurah 11mm and Dwellingup, 97km south of Perth, had 33mm.
Some rain got through to the Great Southern, with Kojonup 15mm, Darkan 14mm, Katanning 10mm and Lake Grace 5mm.
In the Central Wheatbelt falls were sporadic, with Badingarra, 209km north-east of Perth, getting 11mm and Eneabba 17mm, but elsewhere farmers largely missed out .
BOM communications manager Neil Bennett said water spouts could be quite common along the WA coast when winds moving in different directions and speeds pick up water droplets from the ocean

He said while the winds that create the spouts were not particularly strong, they could reach 60kph to 70kph.
