FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda A Turkish aid agency says it will reject any offer by Israel to pay compensation for launching a fatal attack on the agency’s Gaza-bound aid flotilla in 2010 in exchange for dropping a court case.
On Thursday, Turkey’s Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) said it had gained information that Ankara and the Tel Aviv regime were about to finalize a compensation agreement to settle the dispute over Israel’s 2010 commando raid on the Turkish-flagged Mavi Marmara.
“We are hearing that an agreement will soon be announced on the compensation… [Israel] will pay as an outcome of talks… One of Israel’s conditions is to drop the court cases,” said Ugur Yildirim, a lawyer for the IHH.
Yildirim warned Ankara against the compensation agreement with Tel Aviv in exchange for dropping the lawsuits, describing such a deal as “a clear violation of global law principles.”
Officials from Turkey and the Israeli regime have not commented on the report yet.
Relations between the Israeli regime and Turkey soured in 2010 when Israeli commandos attacked the first Freedom Flotilla in international waters in the Mediterranean Sea on May 31, killing nine Turkish activists on board the Mavi Marmara and injuring about 50 other people who were part of the team on the six-ship convoy.
The two sides have been engaged in talks over compensation since March 2013.
In February, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said no compensation agreement could be reached without a written commitment by Israel to lift its restrictions on the besieged Gaza Strip.
