‘Turkey ready to host Iran-P5+1 talks’

Umit Yardim said that Iran and the P5+1 – Russia, China, France, Britain, the US and Germany – are due to reach a consensus on the location and time of the comprehensive talks between the two sides.

Yardim made the remarks on the sidelines of an official ceremony welcoming Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan at Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport on Wednesday.

Iran and the P5+1 have thus far held two rounds of talks, one in Geneva in December 2010, and another in the Turkish city of Istanbul in January 2011.

The envoy went on to say that Erdogan may brief Iranian officials on his talks with US President Barack Obama during the recent nuclear summit in South Korea.

During his two-day official visit to Iran, Erdogan is scheduled to hold talks with Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani and First Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi.
